Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Cougars vs. Oakwood Lumberjacks

The Edgewood Cougars will challenge the Oakwood Lumberjacks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Edgewood is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Ross by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, Oakwood entered their tilt with Brookville on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Blue Devils.

Oakwood let Owen Hoersting and Nate Patterson run wild. Hoersting went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Patterson went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Patterson has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Devine, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Edgewood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1.
