Basketball Recap: Burns Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Burns won the last time they faced East Gaston, and Kaylee Greene did her part to make sure it happened again. The Burns Bulldogs claimed a resounding 58-16 victory over the East Gaston Warriors thanks in part to Greene, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Laney Williams, who posted four points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Despite the defeat, East Gaston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reagan Lilja had nine points.

Burns is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for East Gaston, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burns will head out to challenge Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Gaston, they will head out on the road to square off against Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
