The Drury Blue Devils will challenge the Chicopee Comp Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chicopee Comp took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Drury, who comes in off a win.
Drury played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against Monument Mountain by a score of 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Olivia Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Perry was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Norah Wood was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sloan Brothers, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Chicopee Comp might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Chicopee who claimed the real prize. The Colts came up short against the Pacers, falling 20-8.
Chicopee Comp got a big performance out of Marissa Vasquez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Vasquez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Wojcik, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Chicopee Comp's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Drury, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Chicopee Comp's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Drury has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chicopee Comp, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Drury keep running through batters, or will the Colts buck the trend?
Everything went Drury's way against Chicopee Comp in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Drury made off with an 11-2 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
