Softball Recap: Maiden Triumphs

Maiden had won three straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 9-8 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Pine Lake Prep Pride. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since May 6, 2025.

Not much got past Raegan Rembert, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Pine Lake Prep off the board. Rembert has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

As for Pine Lake Prep, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Pine Lake Prep's side, Emery Jensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Pine Lake Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Cornacchione, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Maiden wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Bandys on the 24th. As for Pine Lake Prep, they will challenge Christ the King at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
