Basketball Recap: McCollum Takes a Loss

After flying high against Winn last Friday, McCollum came back down to earth. The McCollum Cowboys fell just short of the Southwest Legacy Titans by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday. The contest was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but the Cowboys couldn't quite close it out.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest Legacy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savian Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Giovanni Aranda was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points and six boards.

McCollum has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Southwest Legacy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-16.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Southwest the next time they take the court. Southwest Legacy will head out to face Southwest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while McCollum will host them at 6:30 p.m. on February 4th.
