Softball Recap: Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Find Success

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted hadn't done well against Central recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Raiders. This was payback for the Lakers, who suffered a 16-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kirsten Heber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breckyn Jonell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Izzy Morress was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted's record now sits at 7-8. As for Central, their record is now 6-5.
