Basketball Preview: McIntosh Demons vs. Fruitdale Pirates

After six games on the road, McIntosh is heading back home. They will take on the Fruitdale Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Monday, McIntosh escaped with a win against the Spartans by the margin of a single free throw, 57-56. Given McIntosh's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Spartans are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Fruitdale, who are still winless after their 19th matchup. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington County on Monday.

Fruitdale's defeat came about despite a quality game from Deion Taylor, who scored 28 points. That was a full 43.1% of Fruitdale's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Jones, who scored eight points.

McIntosh's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Fruitdale, they dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for McIntosh against the Pirates when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 89-33 victory. With McIntosh ahead 65-20 at the half, the match was all but over already.
