Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Wheeling Park

On Thursday, University faced Wheeling Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The University Hawks took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheeling Park Patriots. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 48-45.

University lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hannah Stemple, who went 9 for 18 on her way to 23 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Bri Fox was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Wheeling Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
