Basketball Recap: Wellington Takes a Loss

Wellington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 40th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 65-30 loss at the hands of the Severance Silver Knights. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.

Despite the loss, Wellington still got an impressive performance from AJ Ferris, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Leading Severance to victory were Cannon Rank and Zack McGrath. Rank dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards, while McGrath went 6-for-9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave McGrath a new career-high in points. Marshal Ehrlich was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points and six boards.

Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Severance, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Wellington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-33 loss against Berthoud on the 20th. As for Severance, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-31 victory against Northridge on the 20th.
