Baseball Recap: Sharon Has No Trouble Against Conneaut Area

Sharon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Conneaut Area on Monday. Sharon blew past Conneaut Area 12-2. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Coen Fertig was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Will Beckert was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Perks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sharon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conneaut Area only posted an OBP of .269.

Sharon's record is now 2-0. As for Conneaut Area, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sharon will face off against Meadville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Conneaut Area, they will take on Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
