Baseball Recap: Astronaut Find Success

Astronaut lost to Space Coast back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The War Eagles came out on top against the Vipers by a score of 5-2.

Cannon Hanson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Astronaut's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Hanson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Astronaut: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Blake Sargenti was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

The win got Astronaut back to even at 6-6. As for Space Coast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Astronaut didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Titusville on the 20th. As for Space Coast, they have also already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 23rd.
