Preview: Verrado Vipers vs. Greenway Demons
The Verrado Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Greenway Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, Verrado was the victim of a tough 73-50 defeat at the hands of Saguaro. Verrado has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Greenway, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 64-29 loss at the hands of Cactus. While losing is never fun, Greenway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Cactus is ranked 44th).
Verrado's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Greenway, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Verrado against Greenway when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 75-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Verrado since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
