Preview: Cheyenne Wells Tigers vs. Stratton Eagles
The Cheyenne Wells Tigers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Stratton Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on November 24th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cheyenne Wells walked away with it. They secured a 66-60 W over Otis on Saturday.
Cheyenne Wells found their leader in underclassman Trey Scheler, who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Scheler is absolutely dominating the solo tackle category: he's posted at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Ethen Garay also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Stratton can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They didn't even let Idalia onto the board and left with a 54-0 win. The win was just business as usual for Stratton, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Cyler Notter got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Stockton Fye, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Cheyenne Wells' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Stratton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
Cheyenne Wells took a serious blow against Stratton in their previous matchup back in August, falling 65-16. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stratton's Notter, who rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that Cheyenne Wells knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
