Baseball Recap: Phoenix Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Phoenix won against Gladstone on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Pirates walked away with a 7-3 victory over The Dalles Riverhawks. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sam Shilts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Aydenn Elmore was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Conner Cunningham also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Phoenix's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for The Dalles, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Phoenix will venture away from home to take on Sweet Home at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. As for The Dalles, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Riverside on Wednesday.
