The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will head out to square off against the Winn Mavericks at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Uvalde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Uvalde made easy work of Harlandale and carried off an 8-2 win. That's two games straight that the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) have won by exactly six runs.

Joseph Pineda made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he's hit this season.

In other batting news, Jordan Castillo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Jordan Albarado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Winn came up short against MacArthur on Tuesday and fell 8-4.

Uvalde pushed their record up to 5-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Winn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Uvalde skirted past Winn 3-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Uvalde since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
