Union County saw some tournament action on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Hamilton County Foxes as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Braves have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Jenkins looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sydney Thomas and Aspen Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Davis went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Tackett, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Union County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton County only posted a batting average of .259.
Union County's record now sits at 11-9. As for Hamilton County, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.
Coincidentally, Union County and Hamilton County will both be playing Trigg County the next time they take the field. The Foxes will head out to face the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Braves will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
