Softball Recap: Garces Memorial Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Garces Memorial lost to Bakersfield Christian back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Rams came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 3-1. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly two runs.

Jaiden Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Izzy Frye was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Castro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Garces Memorial pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bakersfield Christian, they moved to 19-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Garces Memorial by a score of 11-0 on Friday.
