Baseball Game Preview: Norwich Tornadoes vs. Chenango Valley Warriors

The Norwich Tornadoes will take on the Chenango Valley Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chenango Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Norwich, who comes in off a win.

Norwich will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Sidney, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Tornadoes walked away with a 5-2 win over the Sabers on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornadoes.

Zack Parker made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Parker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pierce Sherman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Chenango Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Chenango Forks on Wednesday and fell 5-3. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Chenango Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shea McKeon, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was McKeon's first of the season.

Norwich's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Chenango Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Norwich couldn't quite finish off Chenango Valley when the teams last played back in March and fell 11-9. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
