Preview: Norwayne Bobcats vs. Liberty Leopards
The Norwayne Bobcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Liberty Leopards at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Norwayne took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 41-7 victory over Smithville. Given Norwayne's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Smithville is ranked 476th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norwayne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dillon Morlock, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown. Mason Moyer also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Liberty entered their tilt with Memorial with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Liberty breezed by Memorial on the road to the tune of 67-21.
Liberty had a senior duo take command as Dwayne Moody gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns and Tawann Tutwiler threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes. Moody's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Chamir Franklin was another key contributor, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Norwayne's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Liberty, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Norwayne has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been even better at 230.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
