The Palmdale Academy Charter School Jaguars will venture away from home to square off against the Lucerne Valley Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Palmdale Academy Charter School put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Mojave 23-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Alessio Ruiz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Ruiz was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isaac Torres was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Palmdale Academy Charter School is 2-1 when Torres posts two or more runs, but 0-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Ponce, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Palmdale Academy Charter School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lucerne Valley had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over Trona on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.
Juaquin Landeros made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Landeros was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Lucerne Valley let Jonathon Gonzalez and Wesley Beck run wild. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with eight stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Beck got on base in all five of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That triple was Gonzalez's first of the season. Another player making a difference was David Diaz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.
Palmdale Academy Charter School's record is now 2-10. As for Lucerne Valley, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-9.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Palmdale Academy Charter School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. However, it's not like Lucerne Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
