Soccer Game Preview: Millard West vs. Bellevue West

Millard West is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Bellevue West Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. Millard West's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Millard West fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Omaha Westside on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that Millard West have lost by just one goal.

Carter Guthrie and Armani Dircio scored both of Millard West's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, it was a classic East v. West duel when Bellevue West faced off against Bellevue East on Thursday. Bellevue West blew past Bellevue East 10-0. The game marked Bellevue West's most dominant win of the season so far.

The victory (which was Bellevue West's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Millard West, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Millard West came out on top in a nail-biter against Bellevue West in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Millard West since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
