Baseball Recap: Dedham Takes a Loss

Dedham extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cohasset Skippers. Marauders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Skippers since Thursday.

Jack Haven was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cam Galvin made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Dedham is 2-1 when Galvin posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Dowling, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

As for Cohasset, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. The game was the first time they have beaten Dedham on their field since May 29, 2022.

On Cohasset's side, Anthony Simone was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zachary Zalkin, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Dedham will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ashland at 4:15 p.m. As for Cohasset, they will take on Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
