Baseball Recap: Jefferson County Christian Beats Southern for Their Third Straight Win

Jefferson County Christian waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Southern Indians by a score of 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-2 on Saturday.

EJ Keener spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Wyatt Hervey was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Carl Bonecutter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Jefferson County Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southern, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Jefferson County Christian will face off against Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern, they will be playing at home against David Anderson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Southern's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
