Softball Recap: Caldwell Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Caldwell hadn't done well against Vallivue recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Caldwell walked away with a 6-2 win over Vallivue. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kloe Fogle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Liliana Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Caldwell's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. As for Vallivue, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Caldwell Cougars face off against Borah Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell's pitchers better be ready for this one: Borah has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Vallivue, they will square off against Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Vallivue is facing Columbia at the right time seeing as Columbia is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
