Softball Game Preview: Blackman Blaze vs. Rockvale

Blackman hasn't had much luck against Rockvale recently, but that could start to change on Sunday. The Blaze will host Rockvale at 2:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Blackman is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Community on Wednesday. They came up short against the Vikings/Viqueens, falling 9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blaze have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Blackman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Sullivan, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, Rockvale has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.63 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Oakland. Rockvale's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Rockvale's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Blackman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Blackman skirted past Rockvale 12-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Blaze have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rockvale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
