Basketball Recap: Ryan Rodriguez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead True North Classical Academy over Wellington

True North Classical Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell to the Wellington Wolverines 51-46. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Wolverines are ranked 20th).

True North Classical Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Rodriguez, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Gonzalez, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for True North Classical Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Wellington, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

True North Classical Academy will have a chance to turn things around after yesterday's loss St. Albans at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday after yesterday's loss. St. Albans knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully True North Classical Academy likes a good challenge. As for Wellington, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Blanche Ely at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.
