Preview: St. Thomas Catholic Eagles vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders

The St. Thomas Catholic Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Thomas Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.

Even though Village scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, St. Thomas Catholic still came out on top. St. Thomas Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 victory over the Vikings.

St. Thomas Catholic relied on the efforts of Evan Levy, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, and Aron Valentine, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Levy pulled down eight or more rebounds. Caleb Kimble was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to St. Pius X. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (62), Concordia Lutheran still had to take the loss.

St. Thomas Catholic's win bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Concordia Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

St. Thomas Catholic strolled past the Crusaders when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 75-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Thomas Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
