Football Game Preview: Broken Bow Savages vs. Sallisaw Black Diamonds

The Broken Bow Savages will challenge the Sallisaw Black Diamonds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Broken Bow sitting on four straight victories and Sallisaw on three.

On Friday, Broken Bow humbled Glenpool with a 47-7 victory. The contest marked the Savages' most dominant win of the season so far.

Greydon Howell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 130 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 136 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Jattairrius Neal was another key player, rushing for 104 yards and one score on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Broken Bow was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Sallisaw and Hilldale have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Black Diamonds walked away with a 41-29 victory over the Hornets.

Sallisaw's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Broken Bow, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything came up roses for Broken Bow against Sallisaw when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-14 win. Will the Savages repeat their success, or do the Black Diamonds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
