Baseball Recap: Groveport-Madison Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Groveport-Madison hadn't done well against Central Crossing recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cruisers came out on top against the Comets by a score of 6-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cruisers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jack Lutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Chris Conley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Groveport-Madison is 2-1 when Conley posts two or more runs, but 1-17 otherwise. Joseph Casserly was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Groveport-Madison's win bumped their record up to 3-18. As for Central Crossing, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season.

Groveport-Madison and Central Crossing are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cruisers will welcome Olentangy Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Crossing, they are taking a road trip to square off against Olentangy Berlin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
