Basketball Recap: Knightstown Comes Up Short

After flying high against Liberty Christian last Wednesday, Knightstown came back down to earth. The Knightstown Panthers were dealt a 67-25 loss at the hands of the Eastern Hancock Royals on Friday. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

McKenzie Koch continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Eastern Hancock, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Koch has scored at least a third of Eastern Hancock's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sotelo, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 13 points and seven steals.

Knightstown moved to 8-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Eastern Hancock, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Knightstown and Waldron will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Knightstown is facing Waldron at the right time seeing as Waldron is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Eastern Hancock and Tri-Central will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Hancock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.
