Baseball Recap: Horn Takes a Loss

Horn extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 12-12 in the process. They fell 5-1 to the Cedar Hill Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Tuesday.

As for Cedar Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.

For Cedar Hill's part, Monte Dismuke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Dismuke has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cedar Hill's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Boyd, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Another was Reginald Samuel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Horn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-1 victory against Poteet on the 19th. As for Cedar Hill, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Duncanville on the 22nd.
