Softball Recap: Manteno Takes a Loss

If Manteno was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Reed-Custer last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Manteno's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manteno will take on Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they will square off against Bradley-Bourbonnais at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Boilermakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
