It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Rosa challenged Pecos on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp  28-6 win. Considering the Lions have won eight matchups by more than six  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Joshua Cordova was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over four innings pitched. Cordova was even better at the plate,  firing off six  RBI, four  runs,  and three  doubles while going 5-for-6. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news, Santa Rosa got a  massive  performance out of  Josiah Barela, who  scored four  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave  Barela a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Andre Chavez, who  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and one  triple.
Santa Rosa has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 21.9 runs over those games. As for Pecos, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the  loss, which was their third straight  at home.
 Looking ahead, Santa Rosa is taking a road trip to  take on Logan  at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Longhorns have averaged an impressive 17.8  runs per game this season. As for Pecos, they will challenge Oak Grove Classical Academy at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.29  runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
