Soccer Recap: Santa Monica Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Santa Monica couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the St. Augustine Saints who were credited with the win on Tuesday. The St. Augustine Saints got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Santa Monica Vikings' three. The Vikings have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Santa Monica's defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for St. Augustine, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Santa Monica does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Augustine, they will take on JSerra Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (JSerra Catholic has won ten straight at home, while St. Augustine won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
