Basketball Recap: Delaney Mcghay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eldon over Osage

After flying high against Hallsville last Monday, Eldon came back down to earth. The Eldon Mustangs fell to the Osage Indians 61-55. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Eldon lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Delaney Mcghay, who posted 17 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Corin Davis, who scored 11 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Eldon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Eldon's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Osage, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-10.

Eldon and Osage could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Eldon will square off against California at 6:00 p.m. on Monday down 242 places (291 vs. 49). Similarly, Osage (ranked 253rd) will meet Boonville (ranked 103rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
