See where Windward and California Player of the Year Charisma Osborne finished nationally.

Perhaps the best way to illustrate Charisma Osborne's importance to Windward's season this year is to show how she performed in her team's biggest games of the season.

While Osborne average 18.2 points per game for the Los Angeles-based school during the season, she ramped up her game when it mattered most, averaging 24.2 points in the playoffs and the big tournament games of the season.

As a result, Osborne led Windward to the CIF Open Division championship, beating nationally ranked Pinewood (Los Altos Hills) 58-47. Osborne had 26 points in that game, hitting 6-of-8 three-pointers in the win.

A MaxPreps first team All-American, Osborne was also named the Player of the Year in the Southland by the Los Angeles Times and she was the Southern Section Open Division Player of the Year. Now she adds MaxPreps California State Player of the Year to her list of honors.



It became clear during the Division III state playoffs that the CIF seeding committee wasn't quite sure what to do with West Campus (Sacramento). With seven losses against tough competition during the season, the committee seeded the Warriors No. 5 in the NorCal bracket.

All coach John Langston and his team did was win the state championship in overwhelming fashion. Including the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, West Campus won its nine playoff games by an average of 26 points per game. That includes a 78-57 win over Sunny Hills (Fullerton) in the state finals.

For that reason, Langston is the MaxPreps California State Coach of the Year.

MaxPreps has chosen a 30-member overall All-State team with a first, second and third team and 15 honorable mention selections. MaxPreps has also chosen a first and second team and an MVP for each playoff division with a single five-member team for NorCal Division VI.
