Two dominant backs in Kentavius Debruce and Christian Lawrence are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Coffee Trojans will welcome the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Coffee put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They walked away with a 35-25 win over Veterans. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Warhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

It was another big night for Bobby Reynolds, who rushed for 229 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 134 receiving yards and one score. Those 229 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Dowling, who threw for 207 yards and three TDs while completing 90% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Coffee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Thomas County Central faced Houston County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 31-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Thomas County Central had a senior duo take command as Jaylen Johnson threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Rodney Dunbar picked up 154 receiving yards.
Thomas County Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacoby Herring and Deandre Andrews. With that strong performance, Herring is now averaging an impressive 5.3 total tackles per game.
Thomas County Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Coffee, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Coffee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 204 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Thomas County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 226.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Coffee was dealt a bruising 38-7 defeat at the hands of Thomas County Central when the teams last played back in November of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Trojans were down 24-0.
