Basketball Recap: Lowry Gets the Win

If South Tahoe wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lowry, they should've done a better job of containing Britain Backus. The Lowry Buckaroos took down the South Tahoe Vikings 54-39 on Friday thanks in part to Backus, who almost dropped a double-double on 34 points and nine steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lowry's points.

South Tahoe lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Campbell Mathews, who posted 16 points and seven boards. That was a full 41% of South Tahoe's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Riva, who had eight points and eight rebounds.

Lowry now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Tahoe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Lowry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-38 loss against North Valleys on the 14th. As for South Tahoe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-33 defeat against Sierra on the 17th.
