Soccer Game Preview: Wayzata vs. Maple Grove

The Wayzata Trojans will take on the Maple Grove Crimson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wayzata is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Woodbury, who was ranked 21st at the time (Wayzata was ranked eighth). The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Royals on Saturday, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Wayzata.

Meanwhile, Maple Grove kept a clean sheet against Park Center on Saturday. They blew past the Pirates 5-0. The result was nothing new for Maple Grove, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Wayzata's victory bumped their record up to 9-2-3. As for Maple Grove, their win bumped their record up to 8-2-1.

Wayzata was able to grind out a solid victory over Maple Grove when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 2-0. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Crimson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
