Baseball Recap: Northwood Comes Up Short

Northwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Toledo Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rangers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rangers have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Evan Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Zuraski, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Northwood dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Toledo Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Coming up, Northwood will face off against Danbury at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Toledo Christian, they will take on Eastwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
