Preview: Bishop Ryan Lions vs. St. John Woodchucks
The Bishop Ryan Lions will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the St. John Woodchucks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Ryan is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Bishop Ryan scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They managed a 64-59 win over Westhope/Newburg. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Bishop Ryan has managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. John waltzed into their match two weeks ago with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] with points to spare, taking the game 51-36.
St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubree Jeanotte, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Jeanotte continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycee Desjarlais, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Bishop Ryan's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5. As for St. John, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
