Recap: Cleveland Hill Golden Eagles vs. Eden Raiders

The Cleveland Hill Golden Eagles were the 50-48 winner over the Eden Raiders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cleveland Hill took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eden on Monday. While losing is never fun, Cleveland Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while Eden is ranked 150th).

When it comes to explaining why Cleveland Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron D'Hilly. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. The matchup was D'Hilly's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaiden Meredith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cleveland Hill were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Taesyn Slating continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Eden, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Slating has scored at least 25% of Eden's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Weyland, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Cleveland Hill bumped their record down to 3-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Eden, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleveland Hill will take on Akron at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Eden, they will head out on the road to face off against North Collins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Collins comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
