Baseball Recap: Carter Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Carter came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Conrad Chargers. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chargers, too.

Sean Armster made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Armster was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pablo Daurte, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Carter's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 2-12 when he doesn't). Jeremiah Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Carter pushed their record up to 6-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Conrad, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Carter will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
