Baseball Recap: Southwood Comes Up Short

Southwood extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They fell 8-4 to the Northfield Norsemen. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Norsemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Dalton Barney was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

As for Northfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Northfield's side, Maddux Daniels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Ty Leming was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Northfield: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-12 otherwise. Kam Pratt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Southwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Huntington North on the 16th. As for Northfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-6 victory against North White on the 17th.
