The Ray Bearcats are taking a road trip to take on the Williams Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ray is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
Ray is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against San Manuel on Friday, falling 37-27.
Krishel Sims was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. That home run was her first of the season. Jillian Figueroa was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Williams made sure to put some runs up on the board against St. Michael on Friday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cardinals. Considering the Vikings have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Danika Howe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Audrina Baldwin was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Orozco, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Williams pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ray, their loss dropped their record down to 8-18.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ray hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ray suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Williams in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Bearcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
