Basketball Recap: St. Thomas More Comes Up Short

St. Thomas More and Schlarman squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but St. Thomas More had to settle for second. They fell to the Schlarman Hilltoppers 68-63. The Sabers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Leading Schlarman to victory were Noah Fowler and Jerrius Atkison. Fowler went 6-for-10 en route to 20 points and three steals, while Atkison went 7-for-11 on his way to 21 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Atkison a new career-high in points. Peyton Kuemmerle was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points.

St. Thomas More's loss dropped their record down to 11-20. As for Schlarman, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

St. Thomas More does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Schlarman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-63 win against Armstrong on the 26th.
