Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Monticello

After losing to Tolono Unity the last time they met, Monticello decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Monticello Sages strolled past the Tolono Unity Rockets with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Sages' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Rockets are ranked 91st).

The win was the fourth in a row for Monticello, bringing their record for this year to 16-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Tolono Unity, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 22-8.

Looking ahead, Monticello will welcome Bismarck-Henning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tolono Unity, they are taking a road trip to challenge Oakwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
