Guadalupe Centers scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy Rams at home by a 56-42 margin. The defeat continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luis Popoca, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Carmona, who posted 11 points.

Popoca wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Guadalupe Centers was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy only posted one assist.

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Teddy Zitron led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Zitron continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Uriel Noorollah, who had 14 points.

Guadalupe Centers' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guadalupe Centers will face off against Miami at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, they will take on The Daniel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
