Basketball Game Preview: North Fond du Lac Orioles vs. Laconia Spartans

North Fond du Lac hasn't had much luck against Laconia recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Orioles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. North Fond du Lac is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.

While North Fond du Lac's victory against Kewaskum wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Orioles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Indians 36-33. The 36-point effort marked the Orioles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

North Fond du Lac's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Calistin Schommer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 boards. Schommer is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Allison Now, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

North Fond du Lac smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Laconia ended up a good deal behind Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Monday and lost 69-55.

North Fond du Lac's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Laconia, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

North Fond du Lac was taken down by Laconia 65-25 in their previous matchup back in February. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Orioles were down 41-11.
