Softball Game Preview: High Point Christian Academy Cougars vs. West Wilkes Blackhawks

High Point Christian Academy is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while West Wilkes is on a ten-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The High Point Christian Academy Cougars will host the West Wilkes Blackhawks at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

High Point Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Uwharrie Charter Academy with a sharp 13-0 win.

Lila Allred was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Allred was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.

In other batting news, High Point Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Madison Benson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Benson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hailey Allred, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

High Point Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, West Wilkes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over East Forsyth on Friday.
